Spring Equinox Tablescape
BY Alison Wiebe
Celebrate the beginning of the Spring season with a sumptuous tablescape filled with Easter table décor and a cascade of bright florals.
It is now officially spring and I couldn’t be happier! I love the feeling of renewal and rebirth that spring seems to bring when the year ahead feels full of possibilities. In my family we like to celebrate the start of a new season with, what else, a dinner party! This Spring Equinox was a small affair with just a few friends. I wanted to feature our Spring Equinox tablescape to serve as inspiration for your next Spring event or Easter dinner.
Spring Tablescape Styling
Start with a bounty of fresh flowers. In spring I gravitate towards light, pastel colours of pink, lavender, and yellow. Place a large bouquet at the centre of the table with several smaller jars of flowers surrounding the vase – for the small jars I used glass yogurt jars I had saved from the Quebec yogurt brand Maison Riviera (they work for all sorts of things). This gives the impression of a cascading bouquet of flowers and serves to hide the vase from view. To finish our floral décor my sister scattered tiny flower buds across the table that she had plucked from a potted plant. While the effect is certainly stunning, there were some regrets about the deflowering of the plant!
For the actual place setting, start with a woven placemat. I used one from Harman Huntingdon in grey which we found at our local kitchen supply store, Yes Chef.
As for the delightful bunny plates and bunny napkins, sadly they have been in my collection for quite some time. I found them at Pier 1 Imports a number of years ago and it doesn’t appear that they are currently available. I did a little digging to find some comparable plates and napkins in case you too love that awesome bunny aesthetic.
