Preheat the oven to 400°F. Peel the pears, cut in half, and remove the cores. Transfer the pears to a baking dish and arrange cut side up. To get the pears to lay flat, you can cut a slice off the rounded edge if desired.
In a small saucepan, combine the butter, honey, orange juice, water, brown sugar, whole spices, orange rind, and kosher salt. Bring to a simmer over medium high heat, whisking until combined.
Pour the honey spice mixture over the pear halves. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for twenty minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes until the pears are very tender and the liquid has reduced and is syrupy. Remove the peels and whole spices.
Oatmeal with Honey Spiced Pears
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and kosher salt. Place over medium heat and stir in the oats. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the oats are thick and creamy. Continue stirring while the oats cook to prevent it catching on the bottom of the pot.
To Serve
Divide the oatmeal into serving bowls. Arrange two pear halves in each bowl. Sprinkle with the toasted walnuts and serve with cream for pouring. Enjoy!
