Pink lemonade gets a cocktail makeover in this refreshing, rosé-inspired sparkling beverage!
Lemonade is one of my favourite summer drinks, so of course I had to figure out a way to turn it into a cocktail! A splash of grenadine gives regular homemade lemonade a blushing pink hue. Add some rosé vodka for subtle fruity and floral aromas reminiscent of rosé wine. Finish it all off with a bottle of pink effervescent bubbly and you have the perfect, thirst-quenching drink for those hot, hot summer days!
Ingredient Notes
Lemon juice: Use freshly squeezed lemon juice if you can. I know it’s a pain to squeeze all those lemons, but it’s so, so worth it for that fresh lemon flavour. Of course, bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch.
Grenadine: There are a few different suggestions for making pink lemonade but by far the most common is to add some grenadine. Traditionally made from pomegranates, this bright red syrup is made today with a variety of fruit juices and sweeteners and is a common bar syrup.
Rosé Vodka: A relatively new invention, rosé vodka is the vodka industry’s response to the recent rosé trend. It is meant to taste like rosé wine with subtle fruity, citrus and herbaceous aromas. A few of the brands that make rosé vodka are Three Olives in the UK, Swedish Svedka, and Hangar Vodka in the United States.
Substitutes: What if you can’t find rosé vodka? It can still be tricky to track down in some places, so here are a few ideas for substitutes. Pick a flavoured vodka that would go well with lemonade, such as lemon, grapefruit, or a berry flavour. Or you could just add regular vodka!
Sparkling wine: A simple pink Prosecco works perfectly. And since you are just using the Prosecco to top up the drink then a regular sparkling wine would be perfectly fine as well.
How to Make Sparkling Rosé Lemonade
This cocktail recipe couldn’t be any simpler to make! In a pitcher combine the lemon juice, sugar, grenadine, and rosé vodka. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved. Chill until you’re ready to serve!
To serve, fill a glass with ice and top with about 4 oz of the pink lemonade mixture. Top with about 2 oz of pink Prosecco or to taste. Garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy!
